L’Anse Abuse Case Picks Up Next Week

The L’Anse man accused of nearly beating his ex-girlfriend’s infant daughter to death goes back to court next week.

26-year-old James Cribbs II was scheduled to have his preliminary exam by now.

But it’s been postponed until next Tuesday.

He’s facing a charge of 1st-degree child abuse.

Cribbs is accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend’s 17-month-old daughter in September.

The attack left the baby partially paralyzed.

Cribbs is in the Baraga County Jail on $500,000 bond.

If he posts that, he’s barred from having any contact with anyone under the age of 18.
