Kids get up close look at birds
ISHPEMING — When it comes to kids, most of them love both books and birds. Kids at the Ishpeming Carnegie Library got to see both of those things today.
The Chocolay Raptor Center had about 150 people show up to see the birds that Jerry Maynard and Bob Jensen brought to show off. The co–owners of the bird rehab center are staying busy this summer, educating people across the U.P. about what they do.
“This is so much fun for us because the kids are so excited to see the live raptors plus our displays and exhibits,” said Jensen. “They listen and learn about the place that raptors in the environment and why we should protect them and how we can go out and protect them.”
“From the tots to the grandmas and grandpas, everyone is wrapped. Everyone is enthralled about all of these raptors,” Jensen added. “They love to see them and they rarely get to see them out in the wild, but here they can see them up close.”
The library has a number of great activities planned for the rest of the summer, including a planned visit by the Ann Arbor Hands On Science Museum July 2nd.
