Jury deliberates in home invasion trial

The fate of a Chicago-area man rests in the hands of the jury in an Alger County trial.

Deliberations were under way in the trial of Ruben Rodriguez on Friday.  He has been on trial since Monday.  The Elmwood Park, Illinois man was one of four people charged in connection with an armed home invasion in Munising Township.

Two of Rodriguez’s co-defendants have pleaded guilty.  One of them, George Carmona of Chicago, was sentenced on Wednesday.  He will spend 135 to 225 months in prison for armed robbery.

Another co-defendant, Isaac Cotto, will go to trial later this month.

Police say the four held a man hostage in his own home on East Powell Lake Road in Munising Township in February 2012.
