Josh Eagle named head coach of BR-H girls basketball team

HARRIS — Josh Eagle has been named the new girls basketball coach at Bark River–Harris. He spent the last four years at Hannahville High School, the first three with the girls and this past season with the boys.

Eagle graduated from BR-H back in 2000 and was part of the 1999 team that played in the state semi–finals. He says he is aware that he has some big shoes to fill.

“Coming in, I knew I had support. That’s where I graduated from. When I was a younger player, we had some success. We went downstate and we played hard every day so I got to know a lot of people in the community just from going to school there. So upon the announcement that I was going to be head coach, I had overwhelming support and it was nice to hear,” said Eagle.

Eagle is taking over for Paul Anderson, who was let go after two years with the Lady Broncos. He says he already knows the players very well, which will make the transition even smoother.

“I’m going to take that opportunity and do the best I can with it. I don’t feel a lot of pressure as far as performing. That’s not at the top of my list. Teaching character, hard work, discipline. I have a family–orientated system. My philosophy is more about teaching you how to be a good person, rather than a great basketball player, and hopefully both of them happen,” Eagle said.

Bark River–Harris is coming off a great year where they went a school–record 19–1 in the regular season.
