A Houghton businessman facing two felony drug charges appeared briefly in court today.    A pretrial hearing was held for 46-year-old Michael Jestila in Houghton County Circuit Court.

Attorney David Gemignani said he needed more time to familiarize himself with his client’s case since he was recently appointed to replace Jestila’s former counsel.

The case is set to go to trial in January.  A motion to postpone the trial is expected from the defense before Christmas.

Jestila is charged with possession of cocaine, heroine, or other narcotics in the amount of 50 to 449 grams.  That charge carries a possible 20 year sentence.  He is also charged with felony possession:  a two year felony.

Jestila has pled Not Guilty to both charges.
