Jail time given in firearm and domestic violence case

ESCANABA — An Escanaba man arrested after a domestic incident earlier this year is headed to jail.

Mason Bajanen, 40, was sentenced to a year in jail with credit for 24 days served on one count of discharging a firearm in or at a building. He was also given three months for a domestic violence charge. Those sentences will be served concurrently.

Bajanen was charged after firing a weapon inside a house on Sheridan Road in Escanaba — a house which police found on fire when they arrived. He was taken into custody at a camp in Cornell Township after what police called ‘several tense hours.’
