Jacobetti volunteers rewarded for hard work

MARQUETTE — A whopping 11,000 hours of volunteer work were well rewarded tonight at the 2016 D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans Volunteer Banquet.

The reward for all that hard work: a nice dinner; usually in April of every year. And volunteer services coordinator, Ken Arseneau said it’s the least that can be done for all that the volunteers do.

With so many volunteers putting in so much work, there were several people to thank.

“Right now, we’re recognizing those who have put in over twenty hours of service, Arseneau remarked, “That’s probably half of our volunteers that put in that much time.”

MVAA interim director, James Redford was thrilled at the opportunity to say thank you to the volunteers.

“I can’t wait to say thanks to some of those members who have been committing literally decades of volunteer service here in this great community, this great facility;” he beamed before concluding, “that’s the real highlight for me.”

Chief Operating Officer, Bradford Slagle added that this warmth, presence, and human touch is essential in making Jacobetti a real home as they provide care and love for America’s heroes.
