Jacobetti Home Wish List

The veterans at the Jacobetti Home in Marquette have a Christmas wish list…wanted items that make their lives there more enjoyable.

Jacobetti Home administrator Brad Slagle says the most prominent items on the list this year are clothing items like sweatshirts, button-down shirts, sweaters and sweatpants.

He says the veterans are grateful that area residents think of them, and other people do think of them.

The Sunny Morning Show, on Sunny 101.9 radio in Marquette, has helped promote the idea that christmas is for veterans for several years now.

Walt Lindala, co-host of The Sunny Morning Show, says it helps because quite a few of the veterans living at the home have no family nearby.

Great Lakes Radio and Synergy Fitness of Marquette are gathering gifts to fulfill the veterans’ wish list.

Slagle says some of the items that have been on the list in past years aren’t needed this time because of overwhelming community response.

Those would include personal care supplies like denture items and shaving items.

Synergy’s donation box was full when we saw it.

Sunny 101.9’s was empty, but it has been full at other points in the donation drive.

And Lindala is optimistic that it’ll fill up again in the next week.

He says that with many of us getting substantial portions of our holiday shopping done this coming weekend and next week, more donations are likely to come in.

The two businesses will bring their donations to the Jacobetti Home on december 21st, a week from this Friday.
