Ishpeming discusses union negotiations

The Ishpeming City Council held a special meeting Monday morning.

The meeting went into a closed session to discuss union negotiations with the Public Works and Clerical Units.  The council took action to approve tentative agreements with both of the units.

Jered Ottenwess, Ishpeming’s City Manager said that they will be taking the tentative agreements and put them into the union contracts.  The agreements were approved by both the City Council and Unions.  Once the agreements are written into the contracts, the contracts will be given to the council and unions for ratification.

The specific terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

The next regular Ishpeming City Council meeting is scheduled for March 6, where it is likely that both of the agreements will be a topic of discussion.
