Ishpeming Schools Clean Up Flu Concern

After attendance steadily dropped in Ishpeming schools as the week went on, they shut down the classrooms and targeted the problem.

Ishpeming’s school superintendent, Dr. Stephen Piereson, called off the rest of the week on Wednesday because of a high portion of illness or flu symptoms among students.

Based on CDC guidelines, schools that close because of illness must be shut down for 5 to 7 calendar says before starting back up.

The hope is for the district to keep the thorough cleanings going through the weekend and Monday, so that class can pick back up by Tuesday.

Business manager Anthony Bertucci says the staff is using a general virucide called Carpe Diem to disinfect.
