ISHPEMING — It was a red carpet extravaganza as anybody who’s anybody showed up for the City of Ishpeming’s Fourth of July Parade.

Several locals were in attendance in both the crowd and in the mass of floats that paraded down Third Street, headed for downtown Ishpeming.

Local businesses took a stroll in the sunshine as they tossed candies to the children who decorated the sidewalks. And politicians up for election waved to their hope-to-be constituents with an army of supporters trotting behind.

Royalty from around the county, like Miss Upper Peninsula, came out to greet the townspeople. Several bands braved the heat to play a number for the crowd as they ooed and awed at the talented members.

The onlookers were also visited by police and veterans who honked their horns and sounded their sirens.

There was something for everybody to enjoy at this Independence Day festivity.
