Ishpeming Names Top Manager Choice
After months of sorting through candidates, Ishpeming’s City Council knows who it wants to hire as its next city manager.
The council got together this afternoon to discuss the 4 candidates it interviewed Monday.
Most council members, including Mayor Gary Nelson, agreed that the one who stood out the most was Jered Ottenweiss.
He’s served as city manager of Trenton, Florida since 2005, but he’s originally from Michigan.
Ishpeming will contact him to let him know he’s the top choice and to start an extensive background check.
The council will meet a week from tomorrow to discuss the background check and whether or not to start negotiating a contract with Ottenweiss.
