Ishpeming man killed in pedestrian-truck accident

The victim killed in a vehicle-pedestrian accident Sunday evening has been identified.

Marquette Police say  31 year old Thomas Oral Pizziola of Ishpeming was killed when he was hit by a tractor trailer at about 6:44 p.m.

Pizziola was hit by the southbound truck on U.S. 41 near the Econo Lodge Hotel.

The driver, a 30 year old man from Winnipeg, Manitoba, told police he noticed a man walking northbound on the shoulder of the highway.  The driver changed lanes to move from the shoulder to the passing lane.  At that point, the pedestrian reportedly crossed the road in front of the truck and was hit.
