Ishpeming Church Soup Luncheon

A Marquette County church served up something special today — a monthly soup luncheon that’s used to help pay for church expenses and mission trips.

It happens on the second Wednesday of every month in the fall and winter.

Members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming and others turn out in big numbers.

Volunteer Marilyn Andrew says even though they begin serving the soup at 11, people begin showing up at 10:30 to make sure they get a bowl.

She says anyone who shows up at noon or 12:30 has a diminished chance of receiving any soup, as they usually run out during that window of time.

They all get to enjoy a bowl of home-made soup, with 10 to 15 varieties to choose from.

The money raised each month by the soup luncheon is used to help pay for church expenses and mission trips.

The next soup lunch will be on March 14th.
