An Iron River man who escaped police custody this summer will now stand trial.

Jordan Luckey, 22, was arrested in June after he ran away from an Iron County Sheriff’s Deputy after being taken from the Iron County Jail to Northstar Health System for medical treatment.

Police say he ran to Ice Lake and tried to swim away, then returned to shore and continued running.

Luckey was given a competency exam and has been deemed competent to stand trial.  He has a preliminary exam scheduled for December 23 in Iron County Trial Court.

Luckey is charged with a felony count of escaping from jail through violence.  That charge is one of fourteen he is facing from various arrests.
