Iron Mountain man is jailed after trying to flee from police

An Iron Mountain man is in jail after trying to flee from police Thursday night.

The Iron Mountain Police say he’s 27 years old. His name isn’t available because he hasn’t been arraigned in District Court yet.

The incident began with what police say was a fight shortly before 10:30 Central time Thursday night in the area of East B Street and Park Avenue. Officers found the suspect in a vehicle on the 800 block of East B Street and tried to pull him over for a traffic stop.

The man drove away, heading the wrong way on East B Street, and lost control while trying to turn onto Washington Street. Police say his vehicle left the roadway and struck a guy wire attached to a utility pole.

Officers arrested the suspect and are holding him in the Dickinson County Correctional Center. They’ve requested charges of third-degree fleeing and eluding, operating while intoxicated with a high blood alcohol content and driving with a suspended license.
