Investigation uncovers meth components and waste

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — A search warrant resulted in the discovery of meth-making components on Monday in Marquette Township.

Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team say they have been conducting an investigation into the manufacture of meth in Marquette Township. They arrested a 45-year-old suspect two weeks ago on meth-related charges stemming from this investigation.

On Monday, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 2400 block of Huron Street. While searching the residence and surrounding area, they located meth-making components and hazardous waste resulting from the manufacture of meth.

Hazardous material was removed from the area and transported to secure storage by certified meth responders. The investigation is ongoing. Police are not releasing any names at this time.

UPSET was assisted by the Marquette City Police Department and the Marquette Township Fire Department.
