ST. IGNACE — The investigation continues into an car accident that left the driver dead.

The accident took place Monday just before noon on Cut River Road in Hendricks Township. Marianne King, 58, of Engadine has been identified as the driver.

According to the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office, King was headed west when she crossed the center line, left the roadway and struck a tree. King was the only occupant in the car and was found by a passerby shortly after the crash took place. She was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Alcohol is not suspected, but King was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators are still determining the cause of the accident.
