Intoxicated man has standoff with police

PESHTIGO, Wisc. – The Marinette County Dispatch received a 911 call from a woman in the town of Peshtigo  around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The caller said that she had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend. The woman went on to say that her boyfriend had armed himself and would not allow her to leave the residence. The woman went on to say that her boyfriend was very agitated and was threatening to shoot at the police if he sees them outside.

The Marinette County Special Response team was activated and was assisted by multiple agencies, including the Brown County Sheriff/Green Bay Police Department Armored Bearcat Unit. With protection from the Bearcat, authorities made a call for the man to surrender, which he hid at 11:19 p.m. Upon entering the house, police found several other loaded firearms and edged weapons.

The suspect is being identified as 42-year-old Keith C. Smith. He was lodged in the Marinette County Jail on several charges, including false imprisonment with a weapon and being armed while intoxicated.

There were no injuries or shots fired in this incident.
