Inmate Dead in Prison Break

One inmate is dead and two more are back in custody tonight after a prison break in Chippewa County this morning.

Three inmates at the Kinross Correctional Facility in Kincheloe overpowered a man driving a semi just after 9 this morning.

The trio tried to drive through a fence, but they got less than 1,000 feet before stopping.

Two of the inmates surrendered.

One fled on foot and was fatally shot by a corrections officer.

He’s been identified as 30-year-old Seth Privacky, convicted in 1998 on ten murder counts in the execution-style deaths of several family members.

The truck driver who was attacked was treated for non–life–threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Kinross, which holds more than 1,800 prisoners, was placed on lock down.
