The dead body found in some woods in Hancock last month have been identified.

It’s 43-year-old Stephen Rose.

Rose had previously lived in Grand Rapids as well as St. Paul, Minnesota.

Hancock Police say he’d visited Houghton County for several years and had planned to camp in the woods for the winter.

His body was found on March 30th in a wooded area off of Ryan Street and Roosevelt Road, in the Quincy Hill section of town.

Rose was last seen in November, when he was released from the Houghton County Jail on charges of writing bad checks.

The medical examiner has determined that Rose died of natural causes in mid-November.
