Huskies retain Miner’s Cup with 24-23 win vs. NMU

HOUGHTON — One year ago, the Michigan Tech football team kicked a field goal at the end of the game to beat rival Northern Michigan.  A year later, the Huskies came through with another special teams play at the end of the game to retain the Miner’s Cup.

With 0:03 left in the contest, Tanner Agen and Ben Tauchen combined to block a 45-yard field goal attempt by NMU, giving the Huskies the 24-23 win.  Michigan Tech trailed NMU 20-10 at one point in the third quarter.
