HOUGHTON – The Michigan Tech Huskies are clicking on all cylinders and they hope that momentum will carry into the Final Five this weekend.

Winston Churchill once said “History will be kind to me for I intend to write it”. Ask any Michigan Tech hockey player about what they keep hearing about the school’s rich hockey history and don’t be surprised if they say they want to be a part of it.

The Huskies lead the nation in wins and are currently ranked 4th heading into the Final Five this weekend. Saturday’s game that saw MTU sweep Alabama Huntsville in the WCHA playoffs was the final home game for seniors Blake Heitela, Jimmy Davis, David Johnstone, Blake Pietela, Riley Sweeney and WCHA Player of the Year Tanner Kero. The Huskies finished the season at home with a 15–5–0 record.

Michigan Tech hasn’t been to the Final Five since 2012, Mel Pearson’s first year as coach of the team. They lost to Denver that year in overtime.

Friday’s matchup with Bowling Green will take place at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. They will meet in the playoffs for the second year in a row. The Falcons ended the Huskies season in the WCHA First Round last year. Puck drops at 5:07 p.m.
