Huskies move up in college football poll

WACO, Texas — Michigan Tech moved up to No. 20 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll. The undefeated Huskies posted a 21-6 road win at Northwood last week to wrap up the opening half of their schedule.

Tech’s defense, which ranks second in the GLIAC and 14th nationally in yards allowed per game, held Northwood out of the endzone last week. The game was the Black and Gold’s fourth road contest in their first five games. That schedule now flips with the Huskies at home four of the next five weeks.

With Ashland joining the top 25 at No. 24, the GLIAC now has four ranked members. Ohio Dominican and Ferris State are both 6-0 on the season and ranked No. 7 and 11, respectively. Tech is 5-0, and AU is 5-1.

Michigan Tech hosts preseason GLIAC North Division favorite Grand Valley State at Sherman Field on Saturday (Oct. 18). The Lakers are 3-3 on the season and have won three straight coming in to Houghton. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
