Huotari Back in Court

A Gwinn man was in Marquette County District Court this morning for this role in a hit–and–run accident.

The accident in Marquette on July 4th killed one pedestrian and injured another.

30–year–old Luke  Huotari, is facing two counts of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, causing serious impairment or death.

Huotari, waived his right to a preliminary exam and was bound over to Circuit Court.

He is being held in the Marquette County Jail on $100,000 cash bond.

Huotari,  is accused of being the driver in an accident at South Front Street and Genesee Street in Marquette on july 4th.

42–year–old Karin LaChapell and her husband, 39–year–old Bryan LaChapell, both of Marquette, were walking to Lake Superior to watch the city’s fireworks display.

A vehicle heading toward Harvey hit them on South Front Street and drove away.

Karin LaChapell died from her injuries.

Bryan LaChapell was treated at marquette general and released.

Huotari,will be back in court on august 17th.
