Humane Society Shoots for $10,000

The Marquette County Humane Society is trying to win a worldwide animal shelter contest, with cash prizes to help out animals in need.

It’s trying to win a $10,000 grant from the people behind a website called The Animal Rescue Site.

Shelter manager Dayna Kennedy says if the Humane Society wins, it would be following in the footsteps of another local shelter agency that won $10,000 a month ago from the same contest.

That other U.P. agency is the Copper Country Humane Society in Houghton.

The grand prize would go a long way.

Kennedy says it would be enough to feed all of the shelter’s animals for 2 years, or to pay for the shelter’s heat and electricity for 1 year.

You can vote once a day, every day until August 22nd.
