House fire claims the life of one dog

MANISTIQUE — A Manistique home is a total loss after being struck by a fire this morning.

Manistique Public Safety and Volunteer Fire Officers were called to the 400 block of Arbutus Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the first floor of the two story home fully engulfed in smoke and flame. They were able to knock down the fire and bring it under control in about 25 minutes but remained on the scene for several hours putting out hot spots. Officers cleared the scene at 11 A.M.

Tammy Holdridge was renting the home and in the process of moving out at the time of the fire. Holdridge was uninjured but her small dog perished in the fire.
