Houghton murder suspect deemed incompetent for trial

HOUGHTON — The 29-year-old Houghton man charged with the murder of an elderly woman last fall appeared in Houghton County District Court Friday for a competency hearing.

Timothy Cadeau was deemed incompetent to stand trial.  Court officials say he is currently undergoing treatment.  He has been having competency exams for almost a year.

Cadeau was arrested in September 2013 after he allegedly murdered 84-year-old Geraldine Fouts at her home in the Douglass House Apartments in Houghton.
