Houghton High School named one of Michigan’s best

An Upper Peninsula school now has the honor of being called one of the top high schools in the state of Michigan.

In U.S. News and World Report’s annual high school rankings, Houghton High School is ranked number 13 in the state. The rankings look at a number of factors, including college readiness index and math and reading proficiency. According to the report, 49 percent of Houghton High School students take AP classes.

The only other U.P. high school ranked in the top 60 in Michigan was Rudyard High School, which comes in at number 59.
