Police continue to investigate a series of break-in’s in the Boot Jack Road area of Houghton County. Residents in the area are surprised that their community would be targeted by thieves. One home owner said he and his neighbors look after each other.
Despite reports of more than a half a dozen break-in’s the last three weeks, one Boot Jack Road resident says it’s still a safe place to live.
Another resident, who asked not to be identified, lives just a few doors down from where several of the crimes were committed. He said the camps and homes that were hit were ones the owners had closed up for the winter and weren’t expected to return until next year.
Police are asking that anyone with information about these break-in’s to please call 337-5145.
