Hospital visitor restrictions still in place

The visitor restrictions are still in effect at Bell Hospital in Ishpeming and Marquette General Hospital.

Children under 14 are not permitted in the hospitals expect for emergency care and scheduled appointments. Anyone visiting either hospital for an appointment is also being asked to wear a mask.

Staying away from hospitals can stop the spread of the cold and flu, and so can a little extra cleaning. One germ-infested area is your workplace.

Health care professionals say it’s a good idea to regularly clean and sanitize your work keyboard and telephone. They suggest avoiding turning light switches off and on, especially in conference rooms, to avoid contact with germs.

The kitchen or break room is a great place to congregate, but it’s also a great place to pass on germs. Door handles or knobs should be avoided as much as possible.

If your workplace trash can doesn’t have a touch-free lid, be sure to use a napkin when touching it and be sure to wash your hands afterward.
