Where’s the best Pizza in the Upper Peninsula?

If you serve pizza, they will come. The Home Town Taste Off took place this evening and it was a pizza eating good time. Eight different pizzerias participated with traditional favorites such as pepperoni, but a few added in a spinach, a pineapple and event pizza desserts were available.

“The Home Town Taste Off” is in its third year. For $5  you got to try all the varieties and at times the line got pretty long waiting for a delicious slice of pizza heaven. To add a bit of mystery, you got to vote on your favorite.

ABC 10 took nominations and suggestions on Facebook this week to assemble a list of the top Upper Peninsula pizzerias. You spoke, and for the final round you can vote on your favorites:

“This year we decided to raise the money and at the holiday time we are going to adopt a couple of families through the Salvation Army, so we are letting the community sample the eight different pizza’s and the catch is they don’t know which pizza is from where so they are blindly voting for their favorite pizza,” said P.R.S.S.A. Vice President.

“‘Jet’s’ pizza is my favorite pizza in Marquette because it is so good, so sweet and the delivery service is perfect,” said Morgan Waller, Junior.

Senior, Moly Rinckey said, “I love Aubree’s because I have never had a pizza from there that I didn’t like and their Margherita pizza, it’s awesome.”

The NMU Public Relations Student Society of America hosted the event, raising money for charity. Last year they raised $800 dollars and are hoping to top that this year. A huge turnout showed up for the event so they might just top last years’ goal.

The winner tonight was Aubree’s. Now, we want your opinion. Use the comment section, or reach out to us on Facebook, we’ll tally up your favorites for a poll on Friday. Got a favorite Za? Tell us about it!
