Home a Total Loss after Fire

A home in the City of Negaunee was totally destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon.

Negaunee City Fire Fighters were called out to a house fire at 118 East Country Road at 5:00 p.m. Smoke was billowing from the doors and windows. The fire started in the rear of the house near the home’s main entrance. Because of strong winds, the flames were fanned and pushed the fire inside the home.

One woman was inside the two–story home with her dog when the fire broke out. Neither of them were harmed. Fire fighters were on the scene fighting the blaze for three hours. The home was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is undetermined. The name of the home owner is not being released at this time.

Assisting on the scene were Marquette County Rescue 131, Negaunee City Police, Bell EMS, and the Negaunee City Department of Public Works.
