Both hospitals in the Copper Country are taking to the ice for the health of the community.

Chances are you’ve never seen an unhealthy hockey player.

This Saturday…the Keweenaw Health Foundation and the Portage Health Foundation are coming together to use hockey to promote a healthy community.

Participants can take part in an open skate with Michigan Tech’s Men’s and Finlandia Women’s hockey players at the John MacInnis Ice Arena, while a community expo is held upstairs.

The event begins at 6pm with a for-fun hockey game featuring employees from Aspirus Keweenaw and Portage Health at 7:00.

Tickets are five dollars and are available at the Portage Health Café and all Aspirus Keweenaw locations.  Everyone 18 and under are admitted free.

Proceeds go to the two foundations and the Copper Country Junior Hockey Association and the Calumet Hockey Association.
