Hit-and-Run Driver Turns Herself In

Police have identified the prime suspect in a hit-and-run accident from a month ago.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says 37-year-old Jennifer Claffey of Munising faces several charges.

The accident happened on November 17th at US-41 East at Commerce Drive in Marquette Township.

Eyewitnesses said Claffey took off after her pickup hit a car, pushing it into a second car.

Claffey turned herself in on December 8th.

Tips led police to the suspect vehicle in a barn at an Alger County farm.

Claffey was also arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant for 3rd-degree retail fraud.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted in this investigation by Michigan State Police.
