A Hancock man involved in last week’s high speed chase through Marquette now faces felony charges in Marquette County District Court.

Jalen Willson Adams, 21, is scheduled to be arraigned on April 24th for two felony counts: fleeing and eluding a police officer in the 3rd degree, and assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer. If convicted, Adams could serve up to 5 years in jail and/or pay a $5,000 bond for the fleeing and eluding charge. Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer carries a possible sentence of 2 to 20 years, depending on the degree.

According to Marquette City Police, Adams was taken to Marquette General Hospital last Thursday following a high speed chase through the city that ended when he was ejected from his vehicle after losing control near the Econo Lodge. The car had rolled over multiple times crossing oncoming traffic lanes, before coming to a stop on the shore of Lake Superior.

Police originally pulled Adams over around 7:30 p.m. on U.S. 41 near Shiras Drive for tailgating. But, Adams reportedly fled the scene when the officer on scene tried to obtain his driver’s license and registration.
