High-speed chase suspect arraigned on three charges

Travis Kuopus was in Houghton County District Court Tuesday morning for his arraignment on charges after leading the Houghton Police on a high-speed chase over the weekend.

Kuopus, 26, is charged with one count of aggravated stalking and one count of fleeing and eluding police.  Both charges could land Kuopus in jail for up to five years.  He is also facing two counts of resisting or obstructing a police officer.  That charge is punishable by up to two years in prison.

Kuopus is scheduled to be back in court May 5.  He is currently lodged at the Houghton County Jail on $500,000 bond.
