Hiawatha Music Festival Preparation

Organizers are gearing up for one of Marquette county’s most popular summertime attractions.
And they could use some help to put the event on.
The Hiawatha Music Festival has been held every year since 1979.
It brings fans of traditional and acoustic music together from across the Midwest.
And they enjoy a weekend of performances at Marquette’s Tourist Park Campground.
Dr. Chuck Ganzert of the Hiawatha Music Co-Op says the festival is very family-friendly, with many of the weekend’s events aimed at teens and younger children.
This year’s festival takes place July 20th through the 22nd.
Even those who volunteer to work there each year enjoy the camaraderie of the weekend.
Longtime volunteer Bill Brazier says there are plenty of way to get involved, from office work to setting up the stage to taking it down to cleaning the grounds, and all of those tasks need to be done to make the event successful each year.
Day passes and weekend–long bracelets are available at the Music Co–Op headquarters on Baraga Avenue in Marquette.
