Heroin suspects arrested in Chippewa County

CHIPPEWA COUNTY — Two Sault Ste. Marie men have been arrested on heroin charges following a lengthy investigation.

The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Taskforce says the pair were arrested after detectives and Chippewa County Sheriff’s deputies stopped their vehicle heading northbound on I-75 Thursday morning. Tri-DENT had been investigating the occupants, Jason Lawrence McRorie, 41, and James Leland Roy, 46, for allegedly being part of a ring that was transporting heroin from the Lower Peninsula and selling it in Chippewa County. Police say the traffic stop revealed a large amount of heroin.

McRorie and Roy were arraigned in 91st District Court for possession with intent to deliver heroin and conspiracy to delivery heroin. Additional arrests and charges are pending review by the Chippewa County Prosecutor. The suspects are lodged at the Chippewa County Correctional Facility.
