Harvey Bank Robbery Suspect in Custody

The Chocolay Township Police Department is reporting that a 29 year old Upper Peninsula man, whose vehicle was seen leaving the area of the Northern Michigan Bank and Trust immediately after the bank was robbed, has been taken into custody in Wyoming.

Marquette area law enforcement facilitated the man’s arrest by Wyoming authorities based on a Michigan warrant charging the man with felony absconding. The man is considered a person of interest in the bank robbery and charges are anticipated in the near future. Wyoming authorities have also recovered a portion of the robbery proceeds from the the man’s vehicle. The suspect’s wife has been cooperating with FBI investigators.

The bank robbery matter is under review by the Marquette County Prosecutor’s office and the United States Attorney’s Office. The bank robbery is being investigated jointly by the Chocolay Township Police Department, The Marquette County Sherriff’s Department and the FBI. The Michigan State Police and the Marquette City Police Department have also provided significant assistance in the investigation.
