Harvest Gathering food drive

Harvest Gathering food drive

On the state level, there’s another effort to help out needy families.

The state’s emergency response food supply is low, but the Michigan Secretary of State’s office is partnering with the Michigan Food Bank Council to address that.

Donations can be made at any Secretary of State branch office.

This is the 23rd year of the Michigan Harvest Gathering. Toiletries, baby food and diapers are also needed. Those items and non-perishable food items can be dropped off now through November 27th.

Amy Maus works at the Secretary of State office in Marquette. She says, “Some businesses like to collect it and then bring it in a big bag. It’s really wonderful to see people participate in that manner. The best part is calling up the food banks and letting them know you have items for them and have too many at this point. The smile on their face is so genuine.”

You can also make a monetary donation; just one dollar can supply five meals.
