Twenty-five-year-old Alexander Watanen admitted Monday morning to two counts of malicious destruction of personal property worth less than $200.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of malicious destruction of a building worth less than $200. All three charges are misdemeanors. They have a maximum sentence of 93 days in jail, a $500 fine or both.

Watanen also pleaded no contest to assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer. That’s a felony with a possible two-year prison sentence.

He’ll be sentenced on October 21st.

Watanen wrote the word ‘GERKO’ on dozens of dumpsters, signs and buildings in the city of Marquette and Marquette Township this summer.
