Guilty Plea to Knife Charge

The Champion man arrested after a bar fight in Ishpeming in January pleads guilty to a knife-related charge.

48–year–old John Joyner has pleaded guilty to possession or sale of a switchblade.

He was punished with $783 in fines.

Joyner won’t have to serve any probation or any further jail time.

He was originally charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon and two misdemeanors.

Ishpeming Police arrested Joyner for a fight at Hickey’s Bar in late January.

At that time, police said Joyner and an Ishpeming man had an argument that culminated in Joyner pulling a knife on the other man.

The Ishpeming man suffered minor injuries.
