Guilty plea in fatal accident

A Big Bay woman will be sentenced on April 5th for her role in an auto accident that killed a young man.

Thirty-five-year-old Amy Tierrablanca has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, causing death.

She appeared in Marquette County Circuit Court today.

In February of 2012, she drove off of County Road 550 in Big Bay and hit a snowbank.

The vehicle rolled over and hit a guy wire attached to a utility pole.

A passenger, 21-year-old Michael Abbott of Big Bay, died at the scene.

Tierrablanca was also charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing death, but prosecutors have dismissed that charge under a plea agreement.
