Gubernatorial Debate

The gubernatorial candidates have now had their one and only chance to meet head-to-head.

Last night, Republican Rick Synder and Democrat Virg Bernero held the lone debate that they agreed to have.

Snyder vowed to repair a broken political culture in Lansing.

Bernero asserted that the economic woe in Michigan is the result of punitive business decisions that have hurt the middle class.

After the debate, Sunday’s poll conducted for the Detroit Free Press and WXYZ-TV showed Snyder with the same 20–point advantage most other polls conducted since the August primaries have reported.

Snyder led, 49% to 29%, with 18% undecided.
