LANSING — Governor Rick Snyder released a few words in honor of veterans on Veterans Day.

Snyder called the decision of those who choose to serve “noble and selfless.”

“Today, over 660,000 veterans choose to call Michigan home, and we are working hard to fulfill our obligations to these brave men and women,” said Snyder. “The state of Michigan is making it easier for veterans to transition from military life to civilian life, providing them improved access to the resources they need for success. This Veterans Day, we say ‘thank you’ to our veterans for their selfless dedication, and I ask all Michiganders to join me in recognizing them for protecting the United States of America.”

During a visit to the Upper Peninsula this past August, Governor Snyder helped honor a local veteran by presenting Negaunee resident Thomas Stanaway with the U.P. Veteran of the Year Award.
