LANSING — With the National Weather Service predicting a foot of heavy, wet snow here in the U.P. and significant ice accumulation downstate, Governor Rick Snyder activated the State Emergency Operations Center in Lansing at noon Monday.

The center coordinates response and recovery efforts by state agencies and local governments. The Governor’s office says no requests for assistance have been made yet, but the state is continuing to work with communities and emergency management partners to make sure all the necessary resources are in place for the coming storm.

The center will remain activated until emergency operations are no longer required.
