Golf outing helps make connections

MARQUETTE — The sun was in the sky, the birds were chirping, and the clubs were swinging at the Greywalls Course of the Marquette Golf Club.

The 17th Annual Lake Superior Community Partnership Golf Outing saw a number of familiar faces take to the fairways Thursday morning for a relaxing round of golf. The event is held each year both to raise money and help make connections between local businesses and institutions.

“We hope to raise about $10,000. It all goes back into the Lake Superior Community Partnership and our economic development activities,” said LSCP CEO Amy Clickner. “This helps fund the people that are out there doing economic development, and then business-to-business type of networking just inspires others to continue to do business with their peers in the community, and that keeps dollars in our community as well.”

This golf outing was the first event of its kind in the area. Clickner said that with the addition of many similar fundraisers throughout the community, they’ve had to find ways to make this one unique – including adding fun games and even a chance for one lucky participant to try to win $100,000 by scoring a hole-in-one.
