Going to the fair has an attraction for everyone

GWINN — With deep fried food, livestock shows, and Ferris wheel rides, there’s a lot to love about going to the fair.

Each of these simple pleasures can be enjoyed this weekend at the Marquette County Fair. But, expect some new attractions alongside old classics.

“This is our 25th year, so we went out on entertainment,” said James Goriesky, the Marquette County Fair Board President, “Right now, we are in part of the Whispering Pines display. It’s a wild bird cage. You can come in, the public can come in as well. The birds, you can actually feed them and they’ll come land on you.”

You can also see monkeys, turtles, camels and more. There are plenty of other things to do as well. The exhibition barn has dozens of vendors, crafters, and artists showing off their goods. And thrill seekers can try out plenty of rides on the Midway.

“If you come to the fair yourself, I’m pretty sure you’ll have a good time. You should try the Rolo-Plane. It’s the best!” said Isaac Bressette, from Ishpeming.
