Girl taken to hospital after crash on private property

CRYSTAL FALLS TOWNSHIP — A young girl was sent to the hospital after an accident that happened at a private residence in Crystal Falls Township on Tuesday.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post say the incident happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. at the residence located on US-141. A 15-year-old male was operating a motor vehicle on the property when he lost control of the vehicle, striking a tree. His passenger, a 12-year-old female, sustained injuries that required transport to Aspirus Iron River via ambulance. Three other passengers — ages eleven, ten, and five — were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Airbags were deployed and all of the occupants were using seat belts. Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Michigan State Police were assisted by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office and Aspirus EMS.
